Frequently asked questions
Can the assistant give legal advice?
No. It is locked to a response set your firm approves in writing. It
cannot interpret a will, trust, deed or court document, predict the
outcome, cost or duration of a matter, comment on testamentary capacity
or undue influence, or quote a fee you have not approved. Anything
edging toward advice hands off to a named person on your team.
How does this sit with Rule 5.3 supervision?
Every exchange is transcribed verbatim into the matter record, so a
supervising attorney can read exactly what was said, when, and by whom.
The assistant is a non-lawyer assistant with a written, reviewable
script rather than a black box.
Will it work with the systems we already use?
Yes. It writes contacts, matters and full transcripts into Clio,
Lawmatics, Smokeball, MyCase, PracticePanther, Filevine and Actionstep,
and books onto the correct attorney's calendar.
How long until it is live?
About three and a half weeks: a 45-minute blueprint call, roughly ten
days of build against your real redacted inquiries, then two weeks of
shadow mode where it drafts and your team approves and sends. It speaks
to a family only after you have read two weeks of its drafts.
What does it cost, and who owns it?
A one-time build from $12,000 (most single-office firms $12,000 to
$15,000) plus a flat run-and-optimize retainer from $1,500 per month,
month-to-month after launch. You own the configuration, the response set
and the transcripts, and they live in systems you control.
Does it replace our intake coordinator?
No. It covers the hours nobody is staffed for and the mechanical part
of intake: the 2am first reply, the facts, the asset minimum applied
identically every time. Judgment escalates to a person with the
transcript already written.
